We are here in the Flinders Village to support you when you need it.

What is Remedial Massage?

Remedial massage is a clinical style of massage therapy that focuses on assessing and treating muscles, tendons and soft tissues. Remedial massage uses specific techniques to address areas of pain, dysfunction and restriction.

Treatment may include:

  • Deep tissue release

  • Trigger point therapy

  • Myofascial release

  • Stretching and mobility work

  • Circulation and recovery techniques

  • Lymphatic drainage techniques and effleurage

We can still support those who are looking to 'zen out' with relaxation massage techniques if that's what you're needing as well. Our Flinders Massage therapist Tegan can work with you based off what you need.

How Massage Can Help?

Remedial massage may assist with:

  • Muscle tightness and stiffness

  • Neck and lower back pain

  • Headaches related to muscle tension

  • Postural strain

  • Sports Recovery

  • Work-related discomfort

  • Stress-related muscle tension

Treatment aims to improve movement quality, reduce muscular overload and support function. We see a range of clientele from Red Hill farmers, Point Leo surfers and Flinders Golfers.

Training and Qualifications of Remedial Massage Therapy:

If your muscles feel tight, you're managing training recovery, dealing with tension from work or stress, or need soft tissue support alongside your osteo or physio treatment, that's where remedial massage helps. It's targeted hands-on treatment focused on releasing muscular tension and helping your body feel better.

Remedial massage therapists complete accredited training in anatomy, physiology and therapeutic massage techniques. Our qualified therapists are recognised by health funds and work within professional standards to provide supportive soft tissue treatment for muscular complaints. We understand therapists come from a range of training levels, however Tegan is fully remedially qualified and a highly regarding professional on the Mornington Peninsula.

Remedial Vs Relaxation massage:

Remedial massage is treatment-focused. Our experienced therapist Tegan will assess your complaint, target specific problem areas, and use therapeutic techniques to address muscular tension, pain or injury. Pressure is tailored to what your tissues need – sometimes firmer, sometimes gentler. It's about getting results.

Relaxation massage is exactly what it sounds like – gentle, flowing massage designed to help you unwind and de-stress. No assessment, no problem-solving, just soothing techniques to relax your entire body and mind.

Conditions Commonly Treated With Remedial Massage Therapy

Neck and Shoulder Tension

Prolonged sitting, stress, repetitive movements and phone use can contribute to tightness and discomfort in the upper body.

Lower Back Pain

Soft tissue work may help reduce muscle guarding and improve mobility around the spine or the hips.

Exercise Recovery

Massage may assist with recovery after physical activity and help to maintain muscle health and assist with managing symptoms of DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness).

Posture Pain

Long periods at a desk, performing manual labour tasks or sometimes from having to stand in one spot can all increase muscle tightness. Massage aims to provide symptomatic relief of these tensions to help you move and feel better

What To Expect:

We'll take time to understand your complaint, health background, and lifestyle so we can understand why something is giving you the pain or tightness you experience. We will then select specific soft tissue techniques appropriate and safe for you.

History and About YOU

1

Expect assessment of your movement, your muscle tension with a heavy emphasis on palpation. There will be gentle assessment of factors like fluid retention, muscle tightness and posture .

Examination

2

Your therapist will then use a range of soft tissue and fluid lymphatic maneuvers to gently (or firmly) stretch and mobilize your muscles.

Treatment

3

Sometimes we do need some regular amount of 'tune-up' massage to help with unavoidable tensions in our day to day life. You therapist will discuss ergonomics, posture and work on a plan to manage your symptoms. But don't fear, we have a number or people who see us now and then, so there is no pressure.

Therapy with added care

Your time and comfort matter to us. We use efficient systems - including a detailed new patient form - so we can prepare for your visit and understand your health history before you arrive. This helps us tailor the space, adapt to your needs, and ensure you feel supported from the moment you arrive.

We also value what you are looking for in a therapist- empathy, accountability, or simply honest guidance. Our care is focused on you.

Massage Therapy at Flinders

Hands-on massage therapy is central to what we do, but good care often goes beyond the treatment table. For some that means exercise guidance, self-care strategies, or creating a sensory-appropriate environment that feels safe.

Tegan brings particular warmth to working with neurodiverse clients. She understands sensory sensitivities, respects communication preferences, and adapts her approach so everyone feels comfortable – whether that means adjusted lighting, minimal conversation, or gentler techniques.
