Elbow and Wrist Pain

Elbow and Wrist Pain

Elbow and wrist pain can develop from sporting activity, repetitive hand use, lifting or gradual strain through the joints and surrounding muscles of the forearm and hand. Many people experience pain around the elbow, wrist or forearm, reduced grip strength, stiffness with movement or discomfort during everyday tasks such as lifting, typing or gripping objects.

At Flinders Health and Wellness Clinic, our team assess how your elbow, wrist, forearm and surrounding muscles are functioning to help work with you on identifying possible contributing factors to your symptoms.

Treatment focuses on improving movement through the elbow and wrist, reducing muscular tension and supporting functional use of the arm and hand. Our goal is helping you understand why symptoms may be occurring and provide strategies to help manage pain and return to comfortable daily activities.

Why People Seek Treatment:

Elbow pain with gripping, lifting or carrying objects Pain around the outside or inside of the elbow (often called tennis elbow or golfer’s elbow) Wrist pain with typing, computer work or repetitive hand use Reduced grip strength or discomfort when holding objects Forearm tension or pain following sport or repetitive activity Stiffness through the elbow or wrist joints

How We Manage:

Treatment is tailored to your sensitivity and the underlying drivers of elbow or wrist pain. This may include techniques aimed at improving joint mobility while reducing tension through the surrounding forearm muscles and tendons.

Care may include dry needling, gentle mobilisation, soft tissue release and practical strategies to help you manage symptoms. Rehabilitation may also involve strengthening and movement control strategies to support the elbow, wrist and hand.

We can also provide basic guidance on the use of elbow straps, bracing or activity modification where appropriate. Where more specialised hand or wrist rehabilitation is required, particularly following injury or surgery, we may recommend collaboration with hand therapists such as Mornington Peninsula Hand Therapy Group who provide dedicated upper limb rehabilitation and management.
